Moving in...

So we finally closed on our property! Needless to say, there were a few challenges in the process, however, we're grateful that we got through them and we are now the proud owners of a 40 acre farm (BTW, have we mentioned that moving really sucks!!).  The house was built in 1968. For the most part, the house hasn't had much of an improvement since it was built other than the typical maintenance to keep the property in order. Duane built a new island to go into the kitchen. We have new flooring, new appliances, new central heat and air and a bunch of drywall work going on before we can actually move in to our new home (as well as paint EVERY wall in the house). Duane had to do some remodeling in the kitchen to facilitate what we wanted the space to look like - it's quite the remodel in a limited time.  A couple of days after we closed on the property, the western sky had Jupiter and Saturn lined up for a view that hadn't been seen in over 800 years.   Hello everyone. This is our first blog post as we get started on our adventure. We are starting a winery called Papposilenus Winery. Eventually we plan on having a vineyard, winery and wedding venue.  So a little bit of background on the name of Papposilenus and the logo. The Greek God of the grape-harvest, winemaking and wine, of fertility, orchards and fruit is Dionysus, half human and half God, aka a demigod. Dionysus originated during the Mycenaean period that predates the Ancient Greek culture. Silenus was a companion and mentor to Dionysus teaching him how to grow grapes and how to harvest and make wine from those grapes. Silenus was considerably older than the satyrs of the Dionysian retinue and in his older years he was commonly referred to as "Pappo"silenus. Since Duane is the "old" guy that has mentored many others in the art of winemaking, we thought it was only fitting that Papposilenus would be the natural name of the winery.  The logo has ties to the...
